About this paper

A. P. Dawid, R. Murtas, M. Musio

The authors bound an individual’s probability of causation when a mediator is measured experimentally but unavailable for that person. Under binary variables, no direct effect, and unconfounded causal mechanisms, mediator information can tighten the upper bound, but not the lower bound. An illustrative example gives an interval of 0.60 to 0.76, not point identification; the result depends on these assumptions.
