About this paper

Yunde Jia, Bin Xu, Jiajun Shen, Mintao Pei, Zhen Dong, Jingyi Hou, Min Yang

The paper presents TIUI, a touchscreen interface that lets a remote operator touch objects in a telepresence robot’s live camera image. Vision or tags identify and locate suitably equipped objects, whose wireless actuators execute commands. In lab demonstrations, operators opened a door and controlled a wheelchair and curtain. Driving times were 102.25 versus 122.29 seconds, but evidence is limited.
