About this paper
Qiang Lu, Kyoung-Dae Kim
The authors present DICA, an intersection controller that checks vehicles’ space occupancy over time, rather than reserving routes or grid cells, and delays conflicting trajectories. In SUMO, enhanced DICA used 0.4% of basic DICA’s computation time at 300 vehicles per 10 minutes. Throughput matched optimized traffic lights, but trip-time gains narrowed under heavy traffic. Results assume autonomous vehicles and communication.
