About this paper
David Koops
The authors model Bitcoin confirmation time by tracking a transaction’s position among higher-fee data and block arrivals. They propose a lower bound and a corrected diffusion approximation for different traffic levels. In simulations at traffic rate c=0.25, position x₀=4, and horizon n=8, confirmation probability was 0.991, versus a lower bound of 0.990; this compares approximations with the paper’s queue model.
