About this paper

Prateek Jaiswal, Harsha Honnappa, Vinayak A. Rao

The authors present a variational Bayesian method for chance-constrained system design under parameter uncertainty. It approximates an intractable posterior and uses it for expected cost and the probability that all constraints hold. In a Gaussian illustration, mean-field approximation gives a smooth, convex feasible region, but positive correlation can make it include infeasible points; convexity alone does not guarantee safety.
