About this paper

Yuanfeng Han, Ruixin Li, Gregory S. Chirikjian

The authors present a humanoid method using cautious probes and precomputed trajectories to assess unknown boxes. They estimate weight and center of mass, adjust grip or posture, then select a trajectory from a discretized simulation-built table using conservative parameter matches. In one demonstration, a NAO lifted a 0.85-kg box after three attempts, showing one successful case, not general reliability.
