About this paper

Weijia Yao, Hector Garcia de Marina, Bohuan Lin, Ming Cao

The authors propose a method for path following, meaning converging to and then moving along a geometric curve. It adds a virtual coordinate, lifting the path into a higher-dimensional space where the guiding field has no zero points, then projects motion back. Theoretical results establish conditional global convergence; outdoor fixed-wing flights demonstrate 2D and 3D self-intersecting paths, not universal performance.
