About this paper
Roland Akiki, Roger Marí, Carlo de Franchis, Jean-Michel Morel, Gabriele Facciolo
The authors fit a Rational Polynomial Camera (RPC) model to existing satellite geolocation models without ground-control points. They sample longitude, latitude, and height grids, project them with each input model, and estimate the RPC using regularized least squares and iterative correction. Tests on Sentinel-1 SAR and WorldView-3 report errors around 10^-4 pixels or less in most configurations, measuring agreement with input models, not absolute ground accuracy.
