About this paper
Ali Shafti, Victoria Derks, Hannah Kay, A. Aldo Faisal
The authors introduce response shift, the absolute difference between a person’s initial and revised continuous prediction after AI input. They test it in a student-grade prediction task. The better-performing AI produced larger shifts and reduced prediction error, but explanation comparisons show greater sway did not always improve accuracy; response shift is an operational proxy, not a direct measure of trust.
