A framework reconstructs interacting hands from monocular images by employing a learned interaction prior and a novel Interaction Adjacency Heatmap (IAH). This approach leads to more accurate and physically plausible 3D hand poses, achieving an 8.34 mm MPJPE and 8.51 mm MPVPE on the InterHand2.6M dataset, outperforming current state-of-the-art methods.
Key insights
- Shifting from direct joint localization to conditional sampling from a learned "interaction prior" improves robustness against occlusion and visual ambiguity.
- The Interaction Adjacency Heatmap (IAH), utilizing a Laplacian distribution and incorporating adjacent joint information, provides more stable cues than traditional heatmaps for occluded interactions.
- Leveraging a large-scale, multimodal dataset for prior construction, with physics-based plausibility enforcement, enhances the model's generalization capabilities to diverse interaction patterns.
