About this paper

Prateek Puri, Gabriel Hassler, Anton Shenk, Sai Katragadda

The authors build an agent-based model of a sampled social-media network using recorded users and sharing histories. Its reshare probability varies with the post, sender, recipient, and their histories. For one vaccine-conspiracy event, its community infection-rate error was 0.070, compared with 0.081 for a fixed-probability baseline. This supports closer matching in that network and event, not general forecasting or proven real-world intervention effects.
