About this paper
Ruiqi Cui, Emil Toftegaard Gæde, Eva Rotenberg, Leif Kobbelt, J. Andreas Bærentzen
The authors present a method for turning 3D point clouds into triangle meshes, controlling point retention and topology. It builds a tree, fills faces with edges that preserve genus zero, and can add handles explicitly. On one synthetic High-genus 2 dataset, it references 99.996% of points, versus 52.926% for ScaleSpace; this measures retention, not accuracy, and does not establish topology.
