About this paper
Shailaja Mallick, Vishwaraj Doshi, Do Young Eun
The authors model how a newcomer can gain a foothold when a stronger product dominates a social network. They give the challenger a community that strengthens its communication links, then use a local, cost-aware eigenvector heuristic to select users. In simulations on Facebook’s social-circles network, this approach yields higher modeled share than three baselines, under the model and setup.
