The authors compare 14 existing cohesive-subgraph models across synthetic and real-world networks and a community-search task, rather than proposing a new model. They evaluate core-, truss-, hybrid-, and clustering-based methods using structural measures and ground-truth communities. SCAN consistently performs best on Karate and Polblogs community search, but this result does not generalize to every task or network.
