The authors develop zero-delay compression methods that adapt decisions to observed distortion and use feedback to account for packet erasures. OCSC controls outage distortion; OCRDC handles graded distortion by balancing predictive code cost against reconstruction error. On 3,000 Shakespeare tokens, OCSC saves approximately 1 bit per token versus LLMZip-Dropout at target outage 0.4 on an error-free channel. Guarantees depend on channel conditions.
