About this paper

Federico Vasile, Ri-Zhao Qiu, Lorenzo Natale, Xiaolong Wang

AS-DiffMPM extends differentiable Material Point Method simulation to collisions with arbitrarily shaped rigid bodies, resolving contact particle by particle rather than applying a shared grid-level response. The authors connect this mechanism to rendering for estimating material properties from video. In particle-trajectory tests, its log₁₀(bulk modulus) error for Newtonian material against an Armadillo is 0.22 ± 0.24, but results vary across colliders and parameters; identification uses static colliders.
