The authors extend MMD-FUSE, a two-sample test combining discrepancy scores, by adding quantum kernels and mixed classical–quantum pools. Quantum kernels compare encoded inputs through fidelity, with scaling and pool weights varied experimentally. Tests on synthetic and clinical data show optimized quantum scaling can improve power in some small-sample settings, while hybrid performance depends on weighting and does not always exceed classical kernels.
