About this paper
Julia Di, Kenneth A. W. Hoffmann, Tony G. Chen, Tian-Ao Ren, Mark R. Cutkosky
The paper presents SLAP, a quadrotor system that approaches tree trunks slowly, triggers a servo-released gripper at close range, and detects slips to command recovery. In supervised indoor trials on an oak segment, the system met defined perching criteria in 75% of 20 trials and recovered from two induced failures. Results are limited to this setting.
