About this paper
Sérgio G. F. Cordeiro, Boyang Chen, Frans P. van der Meer
The authors introduce a shell-to-shell cohesive line element for simulating skin–stiffener debonding in structures. It uses higher-order shell displacement and rotation fields to calculate interface opening, allowing a coarser mesh than solid cohesive elements. In a numerical Mode I test, a 2.0 mm structural model had peak-load error below 8% and stable post-peak response; scope excludes intralaminar damage and plasticity.
