About this paper
Avery Gump, Connor Henley, Sungjin Cheong, Akarsh Prabhakara, Mohit Gupta
The authors present a LiDAR method that detects retroreflector-induced glare before point-cloud formation. It uses a sensor-specific Glare Spread Function and corrects photon pileup before scoring echoes against predicted glare. In staged scenes, it suppresses glare and preserves scene structure; in one stop-sign scene, depth RMSE is 0.11 m and δ₁ is 0.89. The evaluation is controlled, not outdoor traffic.
