About this paper
Lorenzo Leone, Luca Colagrande, Luca Benini
The authors present Preemptive virtual channels to separate AXI4 read and write traffic over a shared physical link. Round-robin arbitration lets a stalled stream yield ownership, avoiding the ready-to-valid path of a simple shared-link design. In a 750 μm, TSMC 7 nm two-router comparison, Preemptive uses 1,578 tracks versus 2,776 for Multiplane, with comparable frequency; results are not full-mesh measurements.
