About this paper

Omar Al-Ghattas, David Gamarnik

The authors study high-energy preparation for random quantum p-spin glasses. They compare circuit energy with a product state’s energy at matching one-qubit marginals, then bound correlation energy. For sufficiently large fixed p, mean-field and growing-average-degree models require depth proportional to log n to approach the optimum; bounded-degree results give only a fixed-depth obstruction under an iterated large-degree limit.
