About this paper

Guanqun Ma, David Lenz, Kaiyuan Tang, Hanqi Guo, Chaoli Wang, Tom Peterka, Bei Wang

The authors present a continuous-model method for tracking critical points in time-varying scalar fields without grid sampling. It predicts motion from derivatives, corrects positions with Newton iteration, and reconnects branches at degenerate events. On a 2D Quartic Potential, it matches ground truth with 13 branches and a single connected component, while recovery is not guaranteed for MFA or INR models.
