HEROIC uses camera-resolution limits to decide when an aerial robot should stop searching and support a ground robot. It estimates whether a target is resolvable at a safe altitude, switching the aerial robot to triage or route guidance when it is not. In Isaac Sim, its six-tier mean success rate was 0.84 versus VLFM’s 0.54, with a dense-canopy exception; results are from simulation.
