MEGATRON stores model weights in non-volatile phase-change memory and performs matrix multiplication beside them, alongside RISC-V cores and a nonlinear-operations accelerator. The fabricated PCiM hardware reaches 2.64 TOPS at 57.5 TOPS/W for GEMM with 8-bit activations and effective 4-bit weights. In a modeled one-layer SmolLM-135M evaluation, the combined system improves decode time and energy versus eight RISC-V cores, not a full-model run.
