RETIRE coordinates coding-agent revisions by making successor versions authoritative while rejecting obsolete output and state updates. It fences old work, verifies completed shared prefixes for safe inheritance, and reclaims resources asynchronously. In a recorded-arrival replay, it suppressed obsolete output and enabled all nine final versions to progress, using an 8,192-token prompt with zero prefix overlap. This tests retirement, not cache reuse.
