About this paper

Nicholas Kunz, H. Oliver Gao

The authors propose an empirical capacity frontier that estimates maximum rates across networked systems from summaries of network structure and observed processes, without simulating system dynamics. They test it on 25 systems across five domains using domain-level leave-one-group-out validation. Frontier efficiency is 0.75, comparable to random five-fold validation, but varies by domain and evaluates systems with observed features and maxima.
