About this paper

Ethan Baron, Alan N. Amin, Andrew Gordon Wilson

DeepPhylo estimates phylogenetic tree posteriors from sequence data by training on simulated sequence–tree pairs and building topologies step by step. It avoids tractable likelihood calculation but remains conditional on the evolutionary model. On simulated complex data, including indels, it outperforms IQ-Tree in tree accuracy, while matching it on simple data; this does not establish superior performance on real data.
