About this paper

Shenbin Qian, David Samuel, Jindřich Helcl, Andrey Kutuzov, Stephan Oepen

The paper examines how benchmark evaluation choices can affect decisions about training data. It compares setups using monotonicity, non-randomness, and ranking consistency as proxies for informative scores, not downstream validity. In a Norwegian example, two setups reverse rankings of six 2B models (Kendall’s tau = −0.6); the bundled comparison shows sensitivity, not its cause.
