About this paper
Shutao Tang, Zixuan Zhao
Tang and Zhao revisit the rectangular Schoenberg–Whitney criterion for B-spline interpolation with fixed degree and knots. They identify a false inequality in Wang et al.’s proof: their example requires u5 ≤ u2 despite u5=15/16 and u2=1/4. They independently prove the criterion for clamped splines; the example retains full row rank, refuting the proof, not the corrected result.
