About this paper
Michael Dalvean
The authors test whether French letter positions distinguish words labeled by lexical-decision reaction times beyond word length. They compare positional patterns across the lowest- and highest-reaction-time groups. A random forest using the first six positions plus length reaches 83.95% accuracy, versus 77.27% for length alone, showing added predictive information in this sample; the labels may also reflect frequency.
