About this paper
Ammar Ali, Stamatis Lefkimmiatis
TWIG represents each weight as a path of shared choices, including signs, power-of-two shifts, and zero gates, allowing groups of weights to inherit decisions stored once. For circuits with fixed weights, the authors compare its signed-digit choices with GPTQ at equal layer error on five LLaMA-3-8B matrices. Typical matrices use 9–15% fewer counted adders, but this proxy does not establish chip area or energy savings.
