About this paper
Maximilian Plattner, Fabian Paischer, Johannes Brandstetter
The authors examine how simulation, recording, and neural fitting affect representations of time-resolved turbulence. They compare spatial diagnostics with temporal behavior, and test joint movie fitting against independent snapshot fits on a clean DNS record. Filtering from N=1024 to M=64 lowers enstrophy despite similar energy and selected correlation times; joint-fit change-error advantages reverse with lag, so neither scheme wins generally.
