About this paper

Wenchang Wang

The authors examine how arXiv’s 2026 endorsement rule affected first-time submissions. Using weekly data and a Poisson model, they compare first-time submitters with total submissions and test whether co-authorship network density moderated the change. The estimated entry rate fell 13.3%; declines varied by field, while evidence for network moderation depends on clustering choices. The study does not measure submission quality or track platform migration.
