The authors present a wearable system to measure workplace communication without retaining conversational content. It extracts acoustic features on-device and uses an offline model to identify the wearer’s speech. In a study of 16 workers at one institution, office speaking time was higher, while associations with stress and productivity differed by location and measure; these findings do not establish causation.
