The authors show that a single bounded-integer halfspace test has sign rank at most d+1, while the conjunction of two copies has sign rank at least e^{cd}, for sufficiently large d and M=⌈e^{Cd}⌉. They use spherical averaging and a robust transfer to integer inputs. Thus communication rises from O(log n) to Ω(√n) for this family, not universally.
