About this paper

Zhanzhan Zhao, Shuqi Zhao, Zichen Fan, Dana Randall

The authors test a recommender that filters opinions beyond a shared tolerance threshold and broadens exposure for agents farther from the opinion-space center. In initially polarized simulations, the combined strategy lowered opinion variance for T ≥ 0.25 and reached consensus in five runs at T = 0.35 and 0.45. Three-run LLM tests showed reversal with a shared threshold; real-world effects remain untested.
