About this paper

Damien Rohmer, Karim Salem, Niranjan Kalyanasundaram, Victor Zordan

Dynamic Skinning adds controllable secondary motion to rigged characters by filtering recent skeletal motion and applying stylized deformations to an already-skinned mesh, rather than simulating physics. Its damped response can continue after movement stops, unlike drag alone. The paper reports 0.00003 ms per polygon per frame versus CODY’s 0.05; maximum model sizes differ, so this is not an equal-workload comparison.
