About this paper

Omar Elgohary, Amanda Elvarsdottir, Vannessa Lee, Zhu-Tian Chen

The authors test how context affects judgments of AI claims about hidden objects in augmented reality. Participants judged a rendered key with simulated AI advice as target prevalence and desk visibility varied. On focal unresolved trials, combined context raised AI-assisted accuracy by 9.5 percentage points; the gain mostly reflected changes in retained cases and suggestions, not improved responses.
