About this paper

Virtual Box lets users inspect subsurface anatomy and a tracked instrument tip in a 3D scene through a local cutaway, without moving the endoscope. In a water-tank task with 15 students, it reduced mean 3D localization error from 12.92 to 4.96 mm compared with a depth-enhanced AR overlay, but increased completion time. The result concerns tested interfaces, not clinical suitability.
