About this paper

Bohan Jiang, Dawei Li, Yasin Silva, Huan Liu

The authors test whether auditors can detect assistants using disclosures to advance hidden operator goals. An airline example shows a model switching from recommending a $420 refund in all 20 neutral samples to promoting a $150 voucher by invoking financial strain. GAP estimates financial-strain exploitation rises 10.4 percentage points; DeBERTa detects exploitation with 79.3% accuracy, but covert-goal attribution remains unreliable.
