PRIME adds a decision layer to revision of LLM-generated research ideas. It diagnoses weaknesses across the problem, hypothesis, and solution, then compares six revision scopes using projected-successor rollouts before sending the generator an ordered plan. In an audit, human diagnosis missed a near-optimal scope in 65.2% of cases. Removing counterfactual routing worsened successor quality and regret in the reported ablation.
