About this paper
Fanping Sui, Ying Zhang, Liwei Lin
The authors model power-engineering research as a changing system, enabling paired simulations of a proposed intervention and a baseline. They represent papers as a typed concept network and learn operators to estimate intervention effects. On 186 held-out publication-record bursts, predictions correlated with realized effects at r = 0.557; evidence is strongest for first-time method-target pairs, not universal causal effects.
