About this paper
Hui Xuan Tan, Stefanos Chaliasos, Alastair F. Donaldson
The authors show that a zkVM proof certifies execution of a compiled guest binary, not its source. They demonstrate how source-correct code can trigger an LLVM compiler bug, causing a guest to commit wrong output or fail on valid input. In 20 SP1 projects, an agent found 12 such patches among 366 tried; this is not an attack success rate.
