About this paper

Yuhang He, Si Wu

The authors introduce a machine for copying strings longer than those seen in training. A finite controller moves through cycles and retrieves the record whose memory state matches its state, rather than addressing positions. Trained on lengths 1–40, it scored 100.0% on duplication, versus 54.0% for an LSTM and 50.5% for a rotary-position Transformer; finite cycles limit its range.
