About this paper

Eric Regis, Sinho Chewi

The authors derive two continuous-time models from an edge coupling built from consecutive gradient-descent iterates. The rod flow tracks the center of full-batch MLP iterates through the edge-of-stability transition, using covariance rather than the gradient’s second moment. It is reported to be three to four times closer than the next-best flow; evidence is experimental, not a formal tracking guarantee.
